What’s your “personal brand”?
As I write it… something feels inauthentic about it.
Such a weird question.
Feels abstract. Feels kinda superficial.
The truth is… you actually have one.
How do you think of yourself…in the world?
You spend a lot of time thinking about yourself.
We all do.
That’s not being self-centered, it’s being human.
How do we look?
How do we present ourselves?
What do people think of us?
We might not ask these questions aloud to ourselves, but they’re there.
…and in this new era with social media, we have the opportunity through (free) tools to present our own narrative about ourselves to the world.
It’s a competitive advantage.
Most people I know, including myself, would consider themselves “private” people.
We’re “pre-internet”.
You aren’t going to see pictures of me eating the local cuisine of Buenos Aires or “working” on my tan on the Beaches in Mexico…
In fact, I’ve never posted pictures of myself on instagram, YET:
I ask myself, why is that? Why haven’t I?
Truth is, I haven’t really cared to.
But also, I’m a bit shy to.
I needed to do some Self-Reflection.
…and now, it’s starting to feel right.
I have a plan.
We tend not to fully appreciate ourselves, ‘cause we look around and assume the people that are LOUDER online are more successful.
They’re not.
They just have the courage to put themselves out there.
We have to feel secure about who we are and what value we bring to the world.
As you evolve… so does your “personal brand”.
Create a character and live up to it.
I’m going to leave you with four reasons why I’m starting my personal brand and why I think you should too:
You will generate more opportunities for yourself.
You will give yourself a competitive advantage.
You will be “top of mind” for people. “Hey, you need a ________ (an erotic pole dancer), talk to_______ (Jonny)”.
You will create more “luck” for yourself (Ex. Someone shares one of your posts… next thing you know you’re on someone’s radar you admire.)
Put yourself out there!
Fondly,
Jonny Goldmaker, Inc.
