I don’t know about you…but once I finished University 20+ years ago - I announced to myself and the world “I’m done learning!”
I hated school.
Once I graduated, I looked back at the University and gave it the DOUBLE middle finger!
I was a rebel. Without a cause.
I was very confident at the time.
It’s time to make money “in the real world”. ‘Cause I KNEW what the real world was all about. 🙄
I miss that guy.
He knew EVERYTHING…
Recently, I was encouraging an old friend to start doing some videos. He has a lot of great thoughts, loves to research and is very entertaining… and I know he wants to do it.
He’s mentioned it.
At one point in the conversation though he told me one reason holding him back was something something “digital world” something something something. Honestly, I don’t even remember what he said, ‘cause it didn’t make sense to me.
I just knew it was a very creative excuse.
What do YOU want to TRY?
…and what creative excuse have you given yourself for not doing it?
For this newsletter, I started using a program called CANVA.
For the longest time I just stared at it.
I told myself: I’m not a designer or a 23 year old Social Media Manager, fuck it - I’ll hire someone…
I LOVE using Canva.
Last week, I tried Improv.
I was always curious…
It was ‘kinda fun’. But also, I wished I was doing it with my friends. The class did not feel like a “safe space” for my humour.
After the workshop, I watched the “professionals” do it. It looked like fun, they were all laughing.. but, personally, I laughed more watching Schindler’s List.
If you asked the 22 year old who graduated University, that 20+ years later he’d be learning use a computer to design something or would try improv - he’d tell YOU “not a chance in hell!”.
He was DONE!
You’re never too old to try something new.
Try That Thing.
I’m off to sing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Fondly,
Yoni
