I don’t want to leave all 20 of you (5 who read it) in suspense much longer.
I had a GREAT TIME in the Catskills this past week!
Spending quality time with an old friend. We talked a lot!
Writing, Chilling, Running, Eating, Laughing, Resting and Waking up to Nature.
I know - I’m an exciting guy.
What’s missing? Synagogue?
But to me - that trip was perfect. Just what the (Jewish) Doctor ordered (It was the Catskills!).
A break.
Taking a break from our environment time-to-time is crucial.
There’s also nothing better than being in nature to truly disconnect.
It can change your perspective.
Everything just slows down.
You can think clearer. Less distractions. No agenda.
The absence of checking emails, your daily routine, people and work in general creates space.
When you take a real step back from it all - you can start to see what’s important and what isn’t.
More specifically —> What’s weighing you down?
How does this email or task or person make me feel?
Do I really need to subscribe to all these newsletters? Or is that the old me chasing Crypto dreams?
Not mine obviously. Obv!
The two most important questions to ask yourself:
What gives me energy?
What drains my energy?
You can write it down:
That’s the real thermometer check.
Feel it.
Don’t overthink it.
Trust me, I could be an Olympic Athlete at Overthinking.
You don’t have to take a road trip to the “Borscht Belt” to take a break and gain some insights on what to pursue or more importantly what to DROP.
You just need to give yourself (‘cause no one else will) a small (or long) break from YOU.
Even - The Rock, Elon Musk and other people just like me - need to take a break.
I’ll say it again.
Feel it.
Does this thing (or person) give me energy or drain me?
It allows you to evaluate what to a) Keep and what to B) Drop.
This will give you the space you need to start something fresh.
The something you’ve wanted to do for awhile but haven’t had “the time”.
What I’ve learned is you make time for what’s important.
What we’re actually missing is mental space.
We’re BUSY in our HEADS.
Take a break.
Re-evaluate.
Doctors orders.
Take a Break,
Dr. J. Goldmaker
