Why am I writing a Newsletter?
And..no. It’s not to pick up girls at the bar.
Girl at bar: So…what do you do?
Me: I write an email newsletter.
Awkward pause.
Me: Yes, I’m still single.
For whatever reason, I made the decision to start creating content. From there, as part of my process, I decided to start by writing a Newsletter.
To me - it’s Step 1.
Low risk.
For most others, it’s backwards. They build an audience first on a platform, then bring them back to their email list.
It may not be the smartest, but its the process I’ve designed for myself.
I know which direction I’m heading in…
In other words — I’m “trusting the process”.
What is trusting the process?
It’s setting a course, then letting go and having faith that things will eventually work out in its own time...
Can I get a witness?
Trusting the process is embracing uncertainty and the unknown.
You gotta have faith, f-faith, f-faith! - George Michael.
If you practice something everyday, eventually you will be good at it.
You know it in your GUT.
You want to_______.
Start a new business.
Run a Marathon.
Learn Piano.
It all requires a process.
J.B. Fletcher didn’t solve all those murders in “real life” without writing multiple award winning murder mystery novels and always being at the wrong place at the right time.
It doesn’t matter what the process is exactly.
It’s being clear on what YOU want to achieve.
Another way to look at it is - WHO DO YOU want to BECOME?
A new identity.
I’m ______.
An entrepreneur.
A product designer.
A porn star (I feel like this process might be easier to “lay” out).
In my experience the process is always kinda ugly.
It’s mostly learning from mistakes and setbacks.
The most important thing I’ve learned is to FOCUS ON THE PROCESS rather than the OUTCOME.
Which feels counter-intuitive.
Isn’t the important thing, winning?
Truth is: You have no control over the outcome.
The only thing you have control over is the way to get there.
The daily grind.
Trust me —> Trust the Process.
