It’s September.
Why do I feel compelled to go out and buy school supplies and get a haircut?
I’m programmed.
But I don’t mind it…
I kinda like it, actually.
September has a “fresh start” vibe.
For those of you who are new here… last month I gave myself a “Reboot” Month.
The “Reboot” included some RULES around health:
Daily runs, pushups and cutting out soda & junk etc…
Made a BIG DIFFERENCE.
I’m stunning now. 🙄
No, but seriously - it did.
Another rule I made was limiting my content consumption:
No → Netflix, Prime etc..
Again, BIG DIFFERENCE.
Let me cut to the chase…
If you want to start something new, look at something you can SUBTRACT from your life.
This will give YOU more “space” mentally.
How do you start it?
One way is to set a DEADLINE (I wrote about it last week).
Which reminds me….
IMPORTANT CORRECTION to last week’s newsletter.
It was pointed out to me that I set a lot of deadlines over the past few years and didn’t hit all of them. Guilty.
What’s the difference between the deadlines I’m hitting today and the ones I didn’t in the past?
Two Key Reasons.
#1 Time
Once the idea hit.. it took time to process internally.
The internal argument, the resistance to change… all that.
It takes time to process and then commit.
Mull it over.
#2 Feel it!
The deadlines I set for myself that came exclusively from my head and started with the sentence “I should”.
I Should be writing online... I Should be doing pushups…
Cognitively, I knew it was the right thing to do.
But I didn’t really “feel” it.
I’ve come to learn.. FEELING IT is EVERYTHING.
The goal you set for yourself might “seem” like the right thing to do…
But if you don’t feel it.. it ain’t gonna last.
FEEL IT!
